Your choice of accommodation when for your ski vacation can make or break your trip. The best ski resort hotels have to have specific characteristics and qualities by being purposely built to accommodate skiers and snowboarders. For example, the best ones have easy access to the slopes, have a fantastic spa, a restaurant serving quality food, and a good bar.

The best ski resort hotels also need to have staff who can advise you on the best places to find powder on any given day or find the best aprés spot.
In this post, we will go through the best ski resort hotels in North America and why they have earned their place on the list.

Four Seasons Resort And Residences Jackson Hole

    https://www.fourseasons.com/jacksonhole/

The Four Seasons Resort And Residences in Jackson Hole is a fantastic 5-star ski-in, ski-out lodge. From the moment you walk into the spacious lobby with its roaring fireplace, you are welcomed by the attentive and cheerful staff.

The wide range of dining options includes two fantastic restaurants, where you can sample a range of local specialties. A firm favorite is the elk chili and venison sausage, but you can also try options with an Eastern flavor, such as sushi and house-made ramen.

Guests of the Four Seasons love The Handlebar. This is a slope-side gastropub with inside and outside areas. Here you can enjoy food by celebrity chef Michael Mina and sip draught beer served in cowboy boot glasses. The all-day Happy Hour specials make for a fun après-ski scene, and on weekends, guests are treated to live music.

You get a choice of seven different types of guest rooms and suites. Each one offers a slightly different ambiance, but all are comfortable and luxurious with a private balcony, a gas fireplace, a flat-screen television, a great bed, an espresso maker, and a comfortable seating area.

The Four Seasons' location means you can ski right to the resort before heading off into Teton Village for aprés or a spot of shopping. Alternatively, you can relax in a choice of two outdoor whirlpools and a large heated swimming pool. An inviting fireplace, robe, and towel warmers, and a bar make the pool area welcoming and comfortable, even on the chilliest days.

Trapp Family Lodge – Stowe, Vermont

    https://www.trappfamily.com/guest-houses.htm

The Trapp Family Lodge is designed in the style of a charming Austrian chalet and is owned and operated by the Von Trapp family. You may recognize the name from the film "The Sound of Music," which is the same family! The Austrian ambiance is enhanced by the 2,500 acres of meadows, in which the Lodge has been located since 1950. The property consists of 96 rooms and suites, 18 luxurious villas, and 100 hillside guesthouses.

The widespread of the resort makes it a paradise for nordic skiers and snowshoers, thanks to the 40-mile network of groomed trails. There is an additional 60 miles of forest to explore too. One of the stand-out elements of staying at the Trapp Family Lodge is their outdoor center. Here you can rent equipment from friendly and knowledgeable staff, go shopping or sign up for lessons. It is also very close to Stowe Mountain Resort, which is arguably home to the East Coast's best skiing and snowboard terrain.

After a day on the mountain, you can enjoy the Trapp's state-of-the-art fitness center. This features an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub, as well as a sauna. You can benefit from treatments available in one of the three inviting massage rooms.

The relaxing ambiance throughout the property is created by the fireplaces in the Lodge's public spaces. This is carried through the European-inspired guestrooms and suites overlooking the surrounding mountains and hillsides.

Trapp Family Lodge gives you a wide choice of additional activities during your stay. You can expect family history tours, maple sugaring walks, brewery tours , movie nights (guess which one?), and sing-a-longs. The indoor pool is fabulous for families while Trapp's Nordic center is one of the North America's best.

The Landing Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa – South Lake Tahoe

    https://www.thelandingtahoe.com

Blending sophistication with rustic charm, the Landing Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa is very close to Heavenly ski resort. The area is well-known for casinos and nightlife, but the Landing takes you away from that side of Tahoe, with its boutique style. Here you can kick back and relax in the chic wine bar and spa, with elegant attention to detail.

Guests staying at The Landing can take full advantage of the complimentary shuttle to drive them to and from the gondola in Heavenly Village.

On return to The Landing, hand your ski and snowboard equipment to the ski valet, who will ensure your boots are warm and dry for the following morning. Then you can relax in the comfortable seating areas, wrapped up in fluffy blankets surrounded by a firepit on the terrace. Alternatively, you can sip on a range of cocktails, wines, and craft beers at the bar in Jimmy's Restaurant. The chefs in Jimmy's Restaurant pride themselves on cooking meals created from fresh regional ingredients over a wood fire.

The Landing's 88 guest rooms invite relaxation with their honey wood trim, stone fireplaces, and warm plaid accents. The decor creates an elegant but cozy alpine ambiance.

The Landing offers a truly high-end vacation experience at a great price. Guests love the fabulous lake and mountain views and well thought out lovely rooms and suites. The luxurious spa offers a wide range of treatments to soothe mountain-weary muscles.

Woodstock Inn & Resort – Woodstock, Vermont

    https://www.woodstockinn.com

The Woodstock Inn & Resort acts as a focal point of Woodstock's village green, thanks to its large windows, massive snow covered lawn, and history. This is the ideal option for those looking for the authentic Vermont ski experience with New England charm. Guests can make use of the Woodstock Inn's shuttle service to take them to the slopes of Suicide Six, one of North America's oldest ski areas.

Inside the Woodstock Inn & Resort, you are welcomed by a roaring log fire set in the lobby's massive fireplace. Here, you can relax in comfortable chairs and sofas or make your way into the adjacent Red Rooster bar for a drink or two.

The Inn’s 142 rooms and suites, are airy and welcoming and have a traditional New England pastel color scheme and furnishings with four-poster beds. Each of the Inn's charming rooms has its own unique theme that harks back to the region's history.

To soothe tired legs at the end of the day on the mountain, you can take full advantage of the gorgeous, 10,000 square foot LEED-certified spa. This is home to 10 treatment rooms, where you can enjoy treatments such as the Body Melt Back Therapy treatment. There is also a spa boutique where you can buy locally sourced products to take home with you.

There are a couple of options when it comes to dining at the Inn. For example, you can choose a more formal meal in the award-winning Red Rooster or a gastropub-style experience in Richardson's Tavern.

Staying at the Woodstock Inn & Resort is a very relaxing and peaceful experience. It is best for people that want to unwind and rejuvenate during their ski trip. It creates an authentic classic New England winter experience for its guests. The stand-out features, aside from its decor, are the AAA four-diamond rated Red Rooster restaurant and outstanding spa.

    Sundance Resort – Sundance, Utah

    https://www.sundanceresort.com

Another fantastic hotel with a movie connection! The land that Sundance Resort is built on was bought in 1969 by Robert Redford. It is now part of a vibrant arts and recreational community located at the foot of Mount Timpanogos.

The vibrant artistic flair creates a warm and rustic theme throughout the whole resort. This is achieved by natural wood, leather, stone, and the native American art and work of local craftspeople.

Consisting of 96 guest rooms and suites and a choice of 10 mountain homes, Sundance has a variety of options for its guests. For example, there are romantic suites, spacious lofts, and standard rooms. All of these are decorated impeccably and are super comfortable.

Even though Sundance doesn’t exactly have a massive ski area, with just 44 groomed slopes spread over 450 acres, it is an excellent place to ski and snowboard. There are some awesome powder-filled bowls, and it is excellent for night skiing too.

However, one of the significant things that attracts guests to Sundance is that slopes are right outside your door. Also, your lift ticket is included in the price of your room.

There is nothing better than sampling cocktails and poutine in the historic Owl Bar at the end of your day on the mountain. This bar was moved from Thermopolis, Wyoming, and was where Butch Cassidy and his Hole in the Wall Gang used to drink.

These are some of the best ski resort hotels in North America. As you can see, there are some incredibly nice ones that offer more than most people can experience during a week-long ski vacation, and this doesn't include everything else that is going on in the mountains. You can experience ultra-luxury, convince and history all in one place, making these the best ski resort hotels in North America.
